Great News!
Because of a partnership with Carlsbad By The Sea Retirement Community, we were able to launch a new location! We recently expanded to North County and have our Carlsbad Classics league at The Pine Ave Community Center in Carlsbad. We gather on Wednesdays, 6-8pm, and have fun playing at The Pine Avenue Community Center, 3209 Harding St. You are welcome to come and observe OR join in the fun and play!

This is a recreational league! We have fun, we laugh and we encourage one another on this basketball journey together. There are no first-place prizes or medals, just some good ol’ fun both on and off the court playing a game we all love.

If you are ready, then come dressed to get some exercise. T-shirt, shorts, gym shoes or basketball shoes, water bottle, and small towel. We have basketballs, but if your own, please bring it. We use a size 6 or 28.5in women’s basketball. If you wear a sports watch, please plan to cover it with a wristband and remove all loose jewelry.
Support and encouragement are complimentary and conducted by all SWBA members. League Fees, to cover the cost of refs and gym costs in Carlsbad is $50 for an eight-week season and includes a reversible jersey assigned to you at the start of each session. This fee also includes the Rookies program (Court 2), where new and returning players can “dust off the rust” and learn the rules of the 3on3 game according to the National Senior Games Association.
In addition, participants will be asked to join SWBA at a reduced rate of $40 Annual Fee within 30 days of signing up. (Our annual Fee is normally $65) We not only support women who enjoy the game, but young women, ages 12-17, through our summer camp scholarship program made possible through our Membership fees. We’ll review all this information and the opportunities SWBA offers its members and why your support is important. We accept cash, check or Zelle (swba.updates@gmail.com).
